Labor productivity has significantly increased in Switzerland in recent years, but not all sectors have evolved at the same pace. The construction sector even recorded an overall decline of 2% between 1997 and 2023, because prices for construction services rose at an above-average level. This can be explained by the fact that it is virtually impossible to carry out large-scale construction projects at relatively low prices.
