Startups often finance their growth through venture capital, which corresponds to the equity provided by external investors to young, fast-growing companies. In Switzerland, between 2020 and 2024, around CHF 290 per capita was invested annually in venture capital. This places the country at the top of the European ranking and fourth worldwide. However, the gap remains substantial compared with the leading hubs, namely Singapore (CHF 1,000), Israel (CHF 535), and the United States (CHF 480).
