Dr. Fabian Schnell is Managing Director of the Aargau Homeowners’ Association (Hauseigentümerverband Aargau) and was previously Delegate for Economic Relations and a member of the Executive Board at the SNB. He was a Senior Fellow at Avenir Suisse from 2016 to 2020 and is now an Adjunct Fellow. He studied economics at the Universities of St. Gallen, Gothenburg and the London School of Economics and completed a doctorate in monetary policy.

Foreign language teaching is getting the Swiss hot under the collar again – particularly when it comes to which of the four national languages should be taught as a second tongue in primary schools. However the story ends, it would be undesirable to let the issue dilute cantonal responsibility for education, as that would handicap creative solutions from the start.
